Installing .Mac Menu

For those upgrading, see the Tip below

dotMac Menu 2.6 and higher is now distributed as an installer package for easy installation to any location and will automatically launch once it's been installed.

Apple does not officially support third-party menu extras so you must enable support for them by using one of two available solutions - MenuCracker (available from SourceForge.net) or Menu Extra Enabler (available from Unsanity.) Download links are included for each and both come with their own installation instructions. This only applies to dotMac Menu 2.5 or lower.

Once this is done drag the dotMac Menu.menu item to any location on your computer (the recommended installation location is your Home folder's Library -> Bundles folder [which you may need to create.]) After you've put dotMac Menu wherever you'd like you can then double-click to launch it [see Tip], ready to put .Mac at your fingertips.

Tip: If you've been running an older version of dotMac Menu we recommend you remove it (see Removing dotMac Menu) and run Restart Menubar before double-clicking to launch.
