Relaunching the Finder

This functionality is available via two methods:

1. The directly accessible (once authenticated) Relaunch Finder menu items available from either the File menu or the Dock menu.

2.  Once a manual apply (clicking the Apply button) has finished a Relaunch Finder button will be visible under the Preview in the Drive List window, as highlighted by the green arrow in the figure below.

The Finder is quit via an AppleScript call and after a few seconds is then sent a launch command. On most tested systems this works perfectly, although in some cases the timers may get out of sync and the Finder will quit but not be ready to relaunch in time when called. Clicking the Finder's Dock icon will launch it manually in this situation without any adverse effect.

Tip: A relaunch is recommended after applying on a 10.2.x system to refresh drive icons.
