-
Why did Compare Folders suddenly stop working?
Answer: The demo period for Compare Folders 1.1 or higher is nine (9) tries, or comparisons, with CF being fully functional and without limitations during this period. After the demo tries have been used up a license must be purchased to be able to compare any folders.
-
I selected a folder full of items and Compare Folders crashed. WHY?
Answer: Compare Folders is currently limited to comparing folders with less than 1000 or so items each. This is a known bug (CF will continue to run, slowing the system down and appearing to hang) that we are working hard to improve upon as a lasting benchmark.
-
How much processing time does it take Compare Folders to work?
Answer: Compare Folders is a multi-threaded application designed to work well with you and the applications running. When a comparison begins CF will attempt to use the most available processing and then will throttle down after 10 seconds to share with other applications, allowing for responsiveness from the entire system while it works.

Only one user is registered on my computer. What gives?
Answer: Compare Folders stores its registration information in your Home directory to make sure you always have your license handy on your machine, even in the event that you may completely reinstall your OS, since users will take their Home directory (or a backup of it) with them. CF will allow multiple licenses to be installed in each indepedent Home directory, provided you have the correct registration information, so don't lose that e-mail!

All the menu and toolbar items are disabled. Is this a demo or broke or what? (versions affected: Compare Folders 1.2.5 only)
Answer: There was an issue present in the publicly released version of Compare Folders 1.2.5 which resulted in many users being unable to access toolbar items or menu items, which rendered CF basically useless for them. This issue has been resolved as of CF 1.2.6, which we recommend any prior users immediately upgrade to. The known workaround is to make sure to click on a list in one of the Results tabs and then click to have access to certain items.

Why does Compare Folders care about my Keychain?
Answer: Compare Folders includes .Mac integration for uploading to an iDisk and displaying an iDisk's information. DotMacKit, Apple's framework for accessing .Mac, requires permission since it is using your .Mac account's password in Keychain to sign in and retrieve information. This is done transparently by DotMacKit and your password is not accessed by Infinite Nexus, but permission is required by Mac OS X's security to approve this usage.
