Infinite Nexus - software beyond limits

iNexus : About : Our Ethics

In the vast world of business and even the greater world itself, it's sometimes hard to find a compass to guide from, but we at Infinite Nexus strive to live by a few basic principles that we've found hold true no matter what.

1. Do unto others.

Yes, we know that this is sprinkled throughout history and religious texts the world over, but the 'golden' rule is one that applies not only in a person to person context (yes, we get along at the office!) but also in the sense of how we relate to our customers.

In dealing with customers, they are always right. Its just a matter of understanding it from their point of view. We expect no less from those we deal with, so we do the same for those we serve. Thus, we make software we know we'd like to use!

2. Be aware.

It sounds like a warning because in a sense it is. We always strive to be aware of what we need to do, and what is going on (from customers to local events, to who tripped over the chair.)

It also means to listen. By being in tune with that which is around us, we can better develop a relationship between ourselves and our customers. As the Buddha taught, "all that we are arises from our thoughts."

In a larger scope, we also want to be aware of our surroundings. To that extent we strive to make a difference (albeit however small) in our world.

3. Be honorable.

This notion is one that each of us could debate until the pots ran dry of coffee, but in this sense we want to do that which is right, not that which will fatten the bottom line the most.

To that extent, we want to be proud of what we make and what we do. If you can't tell your mother what you did, it's probably not right, and we probably wouldn't do it.

4. Be original.

This might sound trite, but instead of simply sitting back and trying to extend or improve on other's ideas, we shall forge ahead; creating in our way something to make life that much easier and the Mac that much more enjoyable.

Much like Apple has embraced the world as a whole and broken the shell of propriety that shields most computers today, so we too pledge to work implementing standards and working to extend those standards to make them better and more accessible for everyone, including donating time on open-source projects such as Growl, the on-screen notifications system employed by DriveGauge, and Adium X, the premier Mac OS X instant messaging client.
