Apple’s latest operating system, OS X Lion, is a great update with many useful features both large and small. One of note is found in the About this Mac panel. There’s now a list of volumes and their disk usage, including rough categorizations by type like iTunes does. In typical Apple fashion they’ve more than one-upped the functionality of DriveGauge (note: I’m not saying they were aware of it, I’m sure they weren’t), and that’s for the best as it allows me to focus my limited time on Compare Folders.
For those who’ve been waiting for an update to DriveGauge, I apologize; for those who downloaded, donated, and supported the app I thank you from the bottom of my heart - it was the first bit of code I ever wrote and it led me down an incredible path.

I thought I’d post a quick note that the next update of Compare Folders has some really great improvements, as the title not so subtly indicates. In particular, you’ll be able to specify what the allowed difference is between file sizes, creation dates, and modification dates in contrast to the literal equality that’s present in the current Compare Folders.
This work started based on in-app feedback from a user; be sure to let us know if there’s something you’d like to see or a particular problem you’re having.
