Is this thing on? Yep.

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

If you’re reading this it means the website is live once more.

My former hosting provider, Inno-Tech, disabled my account before the cancellation date (without notice, either) and I had to scramble to get everything set up with a new provider. The upside is that Infinite Nexus is now hosted by Dreamhost, whose service has proven to be 1000% more professional and faster in both directions too. I can’t stress enough how much one should avoid Inno-Tech; if you need a detailed list of reasons just ping me.

Compare Folders 3.3 will be released ASAP now and I’ll get back to finishing DriveGauge and planning major updates for the site and Compare Folders.

If you spot any problems with the site don’t hesitate to drop me a line and let me know.

Locked up with no place to publish

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

I have to post some unfortunate news today - I’ve been attempting to publish the new version of Compare Folders and update the website but my hosting provider’s FTP access is broken. This is not an acceptable situation and I’ll be switching hosts to address this issue going forward. In the meantime I humbly ask for your patience as I deal with the backend issues and get everything transferred.

Valuing Software (from both sides of the table)

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

One of my fellow indie Mac OS X programmers, Daniel Jalkut (author of MarsEdit, which I’m posting from right now), has posted an excellent article dissecting the aspects of ‘free’ software that have become more apparent in the past few years on the Web.

It’s incredibly easy to forget the amount of work in initially creating, then maintaining and supporting an application and Daniel cogently brings out all sides of the issue in my opinion. In addition, I’ve found (as discussed a bit in the comments) that many forget the ads that bracket their IM, email, search, TV, streaming and other experiences to provide the ‘free’ cost they enjoy. Can you imagine software moving in such a direction? *shudder*

The holidays strike

Saturday, December 15th, 2007

This is going to be a wild week for Infinite Nexus!

Compare Folders 3.0 is going to be released on Monday morning and on Tuesday we’re going to be on the front page of MacSanta as well as on their additional page the rest of the month. If you haven’t checked it out you should - this is a tremendous opportunity to save 10 - 20% on many of the great Mac OS X apps out there (including all of our apps)! Kudos to Paul Kafasis of Rogue Amoeba for putting this together again.

P.S. I’ve started using Feedburner to better integrate the RSS feed for this blog across the site so if you’ve subscribed in the past, please delete and re-subscribe using the Feedburner link, it’s greatly appreciated.

Thanksgiving and Sales

Thursday, November 22nd, 2007

Here in the United States it’s Thanksgiving, a holiday in which we take time to reflect on what we are thankful for in the past year (and eat turkey and a wealth of other delicious goodies :-).) I’m incredibly thankful for my (no longer quite new) day job and the many wonderful friends I’ve made there. I’m also incredibly thankful for the continued success of Infinite Nexus because of our wonderful customers.

There’s a tradition that’s grown in recent times for the Friday after Thanksgiving, known as Black Friday, to be a sales extravaganza (some stores are opening at 4 AM!) In more digital times we also have Black Monday, an online equivalent for the start of the holiday shopping season. Since I like both Fridays and Mondays I’d like to announce a new promotion for all our customers. I’ve got to get everything set up in the store tonight but here are the preliminary details:

Coupon Code: BLACKSHOPPING
Dates of Availability: 11/23/2007 - 11/26/2007
Discount: 20%

Once it’s all set up I’ll update this post to indicate such. I’ll also make sure it’s visible in the store for those who might not have seen this original blog entry.

Edit: Coupon is now active and ready to go. Happy Shopping!
